Rasaq Jurhat (b. 1994, Afghanistan) lives and works in Hamburg, Germany. His interdisciplinary work includes installation, reflected pictures, sound, and text.
In his work, he explores themes of visual politics, collective memory and the interplay between fragility and resilience within periods of socio-political transformation, using found footage that he appropriates, assembles, and transforms into new audiovisual forms. Addressing aesthetic, cultural, and historical codes of visual experience and their effects, his arrangement and interconnection of different media elements disrupt and subvert traditional forms of viewer experience. He graduated in 2025 at the Academy of Fine Arts Mainz.
