Two-channel video installation
B/W, audio, 19’00’’

In the two-channel video installation, found footage from the German Bundesarchiv is condensed into a dense stream of historical imagery. These fragments do not present history as a linear narrative, but as dialectical moments in which past events are revealed in the light of the present, making visible the tensions and conflicts that continue to shape society.

How are human beliefs, cultural and ideological views negotiated in public spaces? How do they become materialized as statues and memorials, while simultaneously unvealing their constant state of change? In the center of this interrogation lies the continuous renegotiation of ideas through social struggles. By juxtaposing and compressing the archival images, the installation treats history as a constellation of fragments, showing how immaterial notions take on visible form, only to be reshaped within ongoing, shifting structures of power.
